MOST WANTED CHERNOBYL TOUR
Not feeling like a part of the touristic madness? Explorers, photographers, UrbEx lovers, simply the ones who want to see behind the scenes of Chernobyl and dive deeper. Now you found the holy grail of Chernobyl Tours by dedicating 2 days of your life not just to see, feel, but also to experience Chernobyl, Pripyat, the Duga Radar with an overnight stay you will never forget. Since 2008, ChernobylX has provided the most overnight tours to Chernobyl worldwide.
ChernobylX Tours start in Kyiv, where you will be welcomed with a smile and an airline level of disinfection according to your Corona-free tour manual, you will be given recycled newspapers from 1986, and in just a 2-hour drive, while watching Chernobyl documentary, you will arrive at the spot of the largest nuclear energy accident in the history of mankind, now a place that will become your adventure basecamp.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Having 2 full days to explore the Chernobyl Zone, or what is left from the planned largest nuclear power plant project in the world, does not mean we will take it slow. We jump straight to radiation training, to make sure you are safe and sound the whole time during the Chernobyl tour. Falling in love with Chernobyl is the credo of the day.
Your Chernobyl visit takes off with history even before the Chernobyl Power Plant was built, and we make sure we cover the no-touristic spots in the rush hour. Facts, myths, even conspiracy theories will whirl in your head while peeking inside the abandoned Soviet Union buildings like the Kindergarten, Grocery shops, Pripyat cafe, Schools, Shooting range, maybe even a Morgue right behind the (un)famous hospital of Pripyat. Having a little lunch break while touring Chernobyl will again make your heartbeat run faster as we will enjoy typical Ukrainian meals in the very same canteen as the Chernobyl Power Plant employees. All products are delivered from outside of the Chernobyl Zone and checked.
After conquering the hunger, we will conquer the iconic locations of Chernobyl with nobody around such as the Chernobyl Power Plant, Ferris wheel, Pripyat hotel, Swimming pool, Elementary school, Cultural Palace Energetic, and even the Pripyat hospital. We do not rush, we save time when moving around Pripyat and Chernobyl by van. This way we can cherish the most photogenic sites like the Pripyat river port, Chernobyl Power Plant sarcophagus, Pripyat cinema Prometheus, or the fairgrounds.
These places will tell you their stories thanks to the first-hand memories of one of our Chernobyl heroes on the tour – a liquidator and former inhabitant, who will accompany us on the tour. Prepare your questions or simply stay speechless when you hear that this was the best place to live back in the USSR. If you dare, and if the conditions are right, you can have an exploration on your own in the city of ghosts as well. Just stick to the rules and your dosimeter.
At the end of the first day of exploration, we will actively rest – talking, discussing, and also showing you bonus materials such as old photo albums, videos, uploading pictures and videos to your Facebook or Instagram. Some of you will use the before bedtime for night pictures around the hotel, tasting local beer and spirits, or watching Chernobyl movies for a more thrilling atmosphere.
Day 2 of our Chernobyl tour is more intense, after good sleep and breakfast, we go straight to Pripyat city or Duga Radar before anybody else, becoming real insiders. Feeling like at home is the credo for the day with visiting the Pripyat Playgrounds, Shops, Train station, Bus station, Greenhouse, Jupiter factory, Trucks, the machinery parking lot (or better said graveyard), and Blocks of flats. The Pripyat Fire department and Police department are also full of stories. Smell a real Soviet atmosphere in two secret places that were turned to their original state by some of our Chernobyl colleagues – an ordinary Soviet flat and kindergarten.
After the taste of the Soviet Union lunch back in the canteen, let’s discover some of the forgotten sites of the Chernobyl Power Plant – such as the unfinished reactors number 5 and 6, their cooling towers, and nearby Fish laboratory where you will learn about after-disaster research conducted in the Chernobyl Zone. With visiting tanks, trains and machinery, we can not miss the breathtaking military site of Chernobyl-2 with the Duga Radar – the largest never properly functioning over horizon radar in the world.
The final “word” of Chernobyl and your Chernobyl trip will be made by visiting one of the Chernobyl babushkas who came back after the evacuation to help and live on their motherland, even though they risked it being contaminated. Sometimes we leave with tears in our eyes – not because of the Chernobyl stories they tell us – but for saying goodbye to the people with the biggest heart you can find on this planet. Now you have a place and a soul to return to. The Chernobyl 2 Day Tour is truly transformative, only you decide how deep Chernobyl will sink into your heart.
We have been on a mission to CHALLENGE YOUR WORLDVIEW since 2008.

IS IT SAFE TO VISIT CHERNOBYL?

FAQ
During 2 days in Chernobyl, you can see 3 times more than on a 1 day Chernobyl tour, also you have a chance to be alone in Pripyat and sneak into the non-touristy parts, as well as enjoy the most famous places (like the Ferris wheel, Swimming pool or Central square) completely empty. On top of that – spending a night in Chernobyl (or New Pripyat – Slavutych) is magical and unforgettable. If there is a slight chance you can expand your 1 day tour to 2 days, it will be the best invested day of the whole year.
You don’t need to worry, we have got your back. Everything is arranged for you (permits, transportation, Geiger Muller counter, dining, hotel, maximum safety, radiation safety controls, top pro-English speaking guides, etc). Grab your passport, your camera, some comfy shoes, a good mood, and let’s make some great memories!
